Designing and Prototyping Sustainable Food Tools
Updated: Jun 26, 2020
Course: EID101 [ENGINEERING DESIGN AND PROBLEM SOLVING]
Year: 2019
Purpose: Create a utensil that is can be sustainably manufactured
A fundamental skill of an engineer is the ability to consider the constraints, and create multiple possible solutions with limited resources and time. In Cooper’s Engineering in Designing and Prototyping class, I lead my team in producing two food tools. Given just two months and no experience, my team proposed a 3-in-1 eating utensil and a 2-in-1 fisherman’s knife. By combining the functions of the classic fork, spoon, and knife, we can cut down on the number of plastic utensils that are manufactured and thrown to waste.
